Posted Friday, March 23, 2007 by Jamie Block

To All DFHS Alumni, Faculty, Parents and Friends:

I have the sad duty of informing you of the untimely passing of our beloved coach, Peter T. Dyer. The Coach lost his final battle on Monday, March 12, 2007, at the age of 82.

His wife, Bobbi and his children, Billy and Cathy, were with him. A marine to the end, he had refused to let go, even when told by Bobbi that it was OK.

More than a coach to his players, he was truly a great man and leader.

There will be a Memorial Service for Coach Dyer on Saturday Afternoon, March 24, 2007 at Higgins Funeral Parlor, 321 South Main Street, New City, NY 10956 - (845) 634-6110.

Billy Dyer, the Coach?s son, has arranged the service. The schedule is as follows:

Visitation with the family and the sharing of so many wonderful memories will be from 1:00PM to 3:45PM. The Coach's family now includes: his widow, Mrs. Colleen (Bobbi) Dyer; his children Billy and Kathy; his grandchildren, Tommy, Jeffrey and Alison Dyer; his grandson, (Kathy's son) Greg Heim, and Greg's wife, Karen; Bobbi's son, Will Ryer, and Will's son, Kenny; and finally, his new great, grandchild, (Kathy's granddaughter), Sienna Heim.

The formal funeral service, to be conducted by Pastor Stephen Jurgal, is scheduled for 3:45PM.

At approximately 4:15PM, a marine detail from Stewart Air Force Base will conduct a traditional marine military send-off, with taps, flag folding and presentation to Bobbi.

At approximately 4:30PM, the memorial service will be held. At this service, those who wish may speak about the Coach and the effect he had on their lives.

For those who wish, donations may be sent to: Another Step, Inc., (Providers of Person Centered Supports for People with Developmental Disorders) 23 West Central Avenue, Pearl River, NY 10965). Referring to this organization Billy Dyer wrote, "These are people who have been so wonderful and provided much happiness for the past fifteen years to Pete's autistic grandson, Jeffrey, now 22 years old. They and their programs have been a God-send to many families."
